New artwork fresh from the studio
We all want to escape the rat race every once in a while. Go off grid. Be out of wifi range.
Truth is that while being out in nature is good for the soul, it can require getting ok with a little discomfort. We’ve had plenty of rubbish nights sleep while camping, even now that we’ve upgraded from tents with the kids to a motor home. The same might be said of sailing. Amazing and exhilarating, but comes with its own discomfort. I’ve heard it called a ‘paradise tax’ and I think that’s a pretty good way to describe it.
I found this old photo slide on eBay, and it made me think of the pay off between comfort and happiness I’ve experienced on family excursions, camping, hiking, kayaking etc. And that’s how this slightly fed up lady from long ago ended up in a painting I’ve called ‘Happy Camper’.
